College Question?
What are some colleges that have graphic design and marketing programs? Particularly Stanford, Yale, or Georgetown(in DC)!
Thanks in Advance!

FIrst, graphic design and marketing are two different areas and in many schools there is not much interaction between them. So the first thing you should do is try to decide which area is best for you.
www.aiga.org is the professional organization for design and there are articles and information links to more clearly explain graphic design and the educational considerations for that degree.
I can’t help you much with marketing because my own interests align with design–selling stuff is not a primary aspect of design but is obviously a big focus for marketing.
If you decide you are interested in graphic design, of the three schools you named, only Yale has any real design presence and it also has a rich design history. Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), Virginia Commonwealth, North Carolina State, University of Illinois-Chicago, Rochester Institute of Technology all have great reputations and strong design programs. Another strong design program is UArts in Philadelphia. And University of Cincinnati, which is a little unusual because it is a five year undergraduate program because students go out and have a couple co-op semesters and then come back into the classroom.
A strong graphic design program will stand out in part through its integration of design history and its emphasis on typography. Any program whose faculty start their conversation with you by naming software programs they learn is NOT going to be a strong design program.
Bigger is not necessarily better. Neither is expensive versus state school which is often relatively reasonable. Again talking about faculty, be cautious of any school that doesn’t highlight the faculty and their credentials on the website. If they have strong faculty, they’ll be promoting that. If they are constantly filling in with temps, they won’t talk about them. That doesn’t mean that they are necessarily good or bad teachers but it does mean there may be a problem with developing a comprehensive program and a well-thought structure because there isn’t a core group attending to that.
Hope that helps. Design is a great field if you have a passion for it.
